On Sunday October 28th, 5 students of the Kenshin Kazoku Kai made their way to Ipswich to take part in a competition. For the 3 youngest it was to be their first nervous taste of competeing.

After waiting with anticipation first up was Shanon Pawsey who fought well gaining third place witha super display of kick & punches.

Next to 'glove up' were Chloe Pawsey & Jade Reeve. Both fought well with determination & various techniques. Chloe gained 3rd place with Jade going on to win 2nd place despite injury.

James 'Hitman' Baker stepped up next in the Cadet category. Fighting with power & precission, James found the mark and raced ahead on the scoreboard. James' first opponent fought back but was unable to stop James delivering a positive win. James went on to take a well deserved 3rd place.

Dan 'Zebedee' Weiss was on the mat next in the adult male black belt group. Dan fighting with his usual pace & confidence went on to win 3rd place in kumite (fighting).

Earlier in the morning dan had shown agility & precission in kata taking first place in the senior mens kata section. This was after a last minute decision to take part in the kata competition.

Well done to all those who took part and a big thanks to all family & friends who supported the competitior. Sensei Malcolm.

Autumn Training Course

On the 13th October the Lowestoft Kazoku Kai held it annual autumn course with Japanese instructor Sensei Keiji Tomiyama 7th Dan. The first session was for the junior karate practioners. The course study was the kata  Gekisai ni. This kata is from the Higaonna group of katas and is performed with a lot of dynamics and strength the student really enjoyed the course.

The senior class practiced two kata's Nihanchi Sandan and Sanseru. Nihanchi is a small kata in comparison to others but very complex and had most peoples grey matter in over drive. The main kata was Sanseru which is also from the Higaonna group. Sensei Tomiyama emphasised on the two main points, low kicks and double hand strikes with some devastating applications. Three hours of fantastic instruction soon past and all students gained some excellent knowledge of real karate

The Kazoku Kai would like to thank all that attended and made the course a success including; the Beccles & Yarmouth Shohokai, Norfolk Kazoku Kai and the people who travelled from Wolverhampton and Sheffield.
